Kondwani is a dynamic and multi-talented communications professional with over a decade of diverse experience in social and behavioral change communication (SBCC), environmental advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. Known for a strategic approach to message development and delivery, Kondwani has a proven track record of designing and implementing impactful programs that drive community participation, awareness, and sustainable development.
Kondwani excels in leading the operationalization of the communications strategies, thereby fostering networks with government agencies, media, civil society, and local communities to advance environmental protection efforts. From crafting compelling advocacy campaigns to managing media presence and digital platforms, Kondwani plays a pivotal role in promoting environmental conservation, climate change and tourism.
Chamwala has served in several institutions both full time and part time basis including Mount Mulanje Conservation Trust (MMCT) as Environmental Education and Communication Officer, Malawi Institute of Journalism as Tutor, part-time lecturer at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) and University of Malawi (UNIMA) in the Media and Communication Studies Departments.
In addition, Chamwala has held various leadership roles, including serving as the President of the Athletics
Malawi (AM), Vice Board Chairperson for the Wildlife and Environmental Society of Malawi (WESM) and Chairperson for Team Adventure Malawi. Through these positions, Kondwani demonstrates exceptional leadership, organizational, and negotiation skills, often spearheading initiatives that align with their commitment to nature conservation, youth development, and cultural preservation. He is currently a member of Environmental Education Association of Southern Africa (EEASA).
Kondwani is a Bachelors of Art in Journalism holder from MUBAS formerly The Polytechnic, and a pending Masters of Arts in Health & Behavioral Change Communication (MHBCC) at the same institution. His academic backgrounds, provide him with a solid foundation to address pressing social and development issues. His expertise extends to areas such as environmental reporting, multi-media production, and educational outreach, enriched by professional certifications in wildlife protection, Invasive Alien Species, Sports Administration, and Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) in Wildlife.
Kondwani is passionate about telling impactful stories through photography and videography, organizing outreach and social events, and traveling to explore diverse cultures and environments. As a humanitarian at heart, he is committed to leveraging his skills to promote sustainable development, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.
