Climate and Disaster Risk Management Advocacy Project
With support from Trocaire, CISONECC is implementing Climate and Disaster Risk Management Advocacy Project. The project contributes to Trocaire’s ICSP programme outcome on Ensuing that People living in poverty, particularly rural women and youth in their households, user groups and communities from targeted areas of Balaka, Chikwawa and Machinga districts are collaborating in advocacy initiatives for their rights (e.g. for seed, food, budgetary, markets engagement, services (financial, education, technical, information) and rights related to the sustainable management and governance of natural resources.
Project Outcomes
- Relevant legal and Policy instruments in Malawi are reviewed, adopted and implemented to support rural communities’ rights to access and manage resources and to build resilience to climate shocks
- Enhanced meaningful engagement of Malawi Civil Society in COP processes
- Strengthened civil society, communities’ and other non-state actors’ involvement in NDCs and NAP Processes
