Empowering Communities Through Inclusive Dialogues

Civil Society Network on Climate Change (CISONECC) in collaboration with a diverse array of partners, including the Malawi Government, with support from the Scottish Government through @DAI UK under the Climate Justice Communities (CJC) project, we are currently empowering communities on human rights through inclusive dialogues at Mponera, in Dowa district.

CISONECC National Coordinator Julius Ng’oma highlighted that the aim of the meeting is to facilitate inclusive dialogue between stakeholders and authorities on the human rights implications of climate change and Loss and Damage in Malawi. This initiative aims to empower communities to share their experiences, advocate for their rights, and generate actionable recommendations for improving climate justice.

Ng’oma emphasized that the dialogue will equip program participants with knowledge and understanding of climate justice principles and advocacy. This will enable them to effectively demand the realization of their human rights in relation to climate change, based on their lived experiences.

Our partners, including Link Community Development, CADECOM Karonga, Centre for Integrated Community Development, Evangelical Lutheran Development Service, Water Aid, Water Witness, Organization for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development Initiative, and World Relief Malawi DAI UK International, are dedicated to amplifying the voices of communities vulnerable to climate change through the CJC project.
The CJC project, implemented by DAI Global UK, will span seven districts: Salima, Karonga, Balaka, Zomba, Neno, Phalombe, and Chikwawa. The project's objective is to facilitate a just transition and showcase the effectiveness of locally-led adaptation approaches.
Together, we are committed to fostering a more inclusive and just future for all
